Animal Inspiration

This project was to design something for an animal. I designed a wonderful climbing tower for Jonesie, my lazy cat. He'd probably sharpen his claws and maybe take a bat at a toy and then go lay down for a nap in one of his many favorite chairs. He sleeps about 22 out of 24 hours.

Drawer contents

Today's assignment was to open a drawer and use the contents to construct something. The drawer I chose has my water color supplies in it. I thought this sponge looked like a wooly mammoth, so adding a few sponge, paper. screen and broken crayons finished it.

30 minutes

The assignment here was to draw for 30 minutes. I did a little drawing of dancers. Pencil drawings never show up well in photos, but I liked the assignment and the results.

Duct tape

Another one of those goofy projects! Make shoes out of duct tape. I took the easy way out. The soles are some inserts that came out of socks I bought. Duct tape straps and there you have it! Modeling them gave me extra points.

Good Luck Charm

The good luck here was in the fun of making this little piece. A really simple process of glueing pretty patterns to little squares of lucite, and then adding a back. I like the colors in this one so you will probably see me wearing it. I have about 10 more patterns I would like to try, Christmas gifts, perhaps?

On close inspection...

This project was to take a closer look, indoors or outdoors, for inspiration. The first is a close-up of the ground in an indoor potted plant. I liked the curled dry leaves and texture of the soil.

The second is a close look at the patterns and veins of a leaf.

The third is the lichen and moss that is growing on my back deck. Looks kind of like flowers and foliage.

Next is a close view of a lava rock - very textural.

And, finally a close up of a friendly spider. I like his eyes and the delicate striping on his legs.   Yeah, I got a little carried away on this photo opp!

Popcorn project

I bogged down on this one forever, overthinking what I could do with popcorn, popped or unpopped. Finally decided I needed to move on, so this is a mosaic use of popcorn kernals.
