Hats & Shoes

Today's post was to make a hat and wear it. Rebecca is visiting so we made lovely hats and decorated them with lace, rick rack, beads and stencils.

The previous day the assignment was to make something that can be walked on so flip flops to match the hats seemed in order. It took a while to figure out which glue would make things stick to the vinyl. We tried hot glue but things popped off. We used super glue so I hope they will stay put now.

Formula drawing

This assignment was to use printed directions to do a drawing. I have a children's drawing doodles book that has instructions for drawing animals. (first draw to v's, then connect them and draw a u shape connecting the ears, etc.) A person can come up with a pretty good drawing - especially if you depart from the formula at some point. Ha!

Create in Yellow

Today's assignment was to use only yellow as a medium. It's been so sunny lately that this yellow flower in the sunshine was pretty easy to come up with. I am a little disappointed that it doesn't have much contrast. I may have to work on it some more when it dries. I am several days behind on posting and a couple of days behind schedule in creating - must get busy and catch up!

Traffic Sign

Today's assignment was to create a traffic sign. This is a sign for a round-a-bout. You can turn 4 different ways, but if you keep circling you will just end up in the middle with no place to go.

Animal Robots

This is a fun project for the kids! Using Leggos and construction paper, you can make all kinds of critters. They can stand up or lay flat, like a snake - good use of leggos after you've lost the instructions or some of the pieces are lost. I'm almost to the half way mark for the year on this 365 day project, and I'm still on track. Sometimes I've been a couple of days behind but so far I catch up. Most of the projects are pretty quick and easy! Next year I may tackle a more consistently artistic year-long project -- we'll see!

Self Protection

The theme today was self protection. I like this little pencil drawing of a young girl, only allowing a portion of her self to be visible to the viewer. Most of us spend much of our time "putting our best self forward" for fear we will not be accepted as we really are. There is great freedom in finding acceptance just as we are, without pretense.

Armor for Cat

Yesterday's prompt was to design armor or a helmet for someone or something. I thoughts a helmet for the cat would be fun. Jonesie did not want to wear it.
