Wrap

I thought this one was incredibly dumb, perhaps I am just incredibly uncreative. The assignment was to make a package for something normally unwrapped. All I could come up with was a jacket and hat for an ice cream cone and I wasn't about to sew them - so here's my sketch. Done!

Unique birdhouse

Today's assignment was to make a unique birdhouse, or bat, or dog or squirrel house. I made this birdhouse in my ceramics house and finally got it hung outside. Hopefully I will have a nesting Wren next spring....little late for this year.

Legal Graffiti

Using water, paint your message and then watch it dry. I played around with the photos, trying out various enhancements and colorations. It is so hot and dry they hardly last long enough to get a photo!

Toothpaste art

Create something with toothpaste - this is a toothpaste doodle on my bathroom counter. The photo has been tinted to show the design better. I don't think there is much future in toothpaste art.

Measure

The assignment was to make something using measures and measuring tools. The Bible verse came to mind first and then I just threw all the measuring devices on the paper cutter for background. Photo colors are reversed.

Light

Work with light. Create images using unusual light sources. A few nights ago we had a Blue Moon. Since that only happens once.....  It was time to get out the camera. Here are a couple of images I got shooting the sky from my driveway. The top one has been manipulated by posterizing. The bottom one by adding a touch of neon. I really like messing around with photos.

Rainbow colors

The assignment was to ask a friend you haven't talked to in a while for a suggestion of what to do today. My friend Marie suggested working with rainbow colors. At first I thought I'd just do a watercolor of a rainbow in a stormy sky. Before I got started on that, I ran across a paint swatch book as I was cleaning out my art closet. I've always loved paint swatch displays or spools of colored thread arranged in rainbow arrangements. Here a few photos of fun with the paint swatch book. Thanks, Marie!
